1953

Phylaktis Partassides undertakes the management of a new music trading company in Cyprus. Famous brands represented include Petrof pianos and Lignatone woodwind and brass instruments. Phylaktis becomes the first Cypriot to visit the Frankfurt Musik Messe, one of the leading trading fairs in Europe.

1966

Phylaktis lunched his own company Ph. Partassides & Co. Lfd.  Famous brands represented include Calicia, Legnica, Rippen,  Andreas, Grotrian Steinweg, Welmar pianos, woodwind and brass instruments from Boosey and Hawkes Group, Henri Selmer Paris as well as Romeo Orsi. Bowimg string instruments and guitars were imported from Hofner, accordions, harmonicas and recorders from Hohner, mandolins from Pietro Buccolo of Catania, school percussion form Studio 49 of Germany. Accessory brands represented included Wittner,Konig & Meyer, Pirastro, Thomastik, Pyramid, La Bella, Rico, Vandoren and others.

1970

The company was established as the main supplier of musical publications. It became the main distributor of the Royal Schools of Music publications in Cyprus as well as of other well-known publishing houses in Europe and the USA. Some names are Schirmers, Hal Leonard, Henle, Schott, Faber, Music Sales, Boosey & Hawkes, Peters, Universal, Lemoine, Durand, Max Eschig.

1989

Christakis Partassides joins his father in the family business. The company developed its traditional ties with the European suppliers while at the same time expanding its sourcing network to Asia. Buffet Crampon as the de facto successor to the Boosey & Hawkes Group became the main partner in woodwind and brass instruments.  Asian brands handled include Pearl flutes from Japan, Jupiter woodwind and brass instruments, P.Mauriat saxophones. Further additions from Europe include the Adams professional percussion instruments, Lefima marching percussion, BG wind instrument accessories, Jargar strings, Wolf and Kun shoulder rests and others.

New Era for the Business

In 2018, the company was undertaken by a young couple, Anastasi Chetas, Certified Technician of Woodwind and Brass Instruments and Artemis Avgoustinou Pedagogue,  proceeding in some major leading changes in the music scene of Cyprus.

The first attention was given to the restoration of the store, to the development of its services offering in spot technical support, the presence of the company in social media and the launch of this website

  • At the revamped showroom clients can try any music instruments and accessories and discover the largest music library in Cyprus under the guidance of experts.
  • New wind accessories from the finest woodwind manufacturers such as Légère Reeds, Marca Reeds, Francois Louis, Lucien Italian Winds, Silverstein, Cloudvocal audio solutions, and others.
  • New string instruments are intecrated – Walden guitars, Kohala guitars and ukuleles, Paesold String Instruments and associated accessories such as Extra Laouto Strings, Hanabach Strings.
  • Mapex drums, Jet Guitars, Nux amplifiers and digital pianos are the latest imports.

New section of educational material – textbooks, percussion instruments, games and alternative material are available for the classroom, music studios and early music year programs.

In October 2022, the company presented its first Educational Seminar and Workshop for educators and students of music. In meantime the company participated at the Nicosia Book festival and at the first Book Fair in Cyprus, presenting a vast collection of music books and workshops for pupils.

In 2023, Partassides Music Store became one of the silver supporters of the annual Cyprus Make Music Festival offering to the musicians the pleasure to play music.
